It's a beautiful day

With all the seriousness going on in the last post I forgot to mention that we finally have SUN after what if feels like a never ending period of rain and snow. And of course that reminds me of a song that I like to listen to when the weather is so nice. You guessed it. It's U2!!! It really is a beautiful day. And spring is here!!! :)

Enjoy!

Goodbye world.

Do we have the right to judge cultures?

My dad recently came back from Afghanistan where he had a project to do. He was showing me pictures of the places he travelled to and it was interesting and mind-blowing to compare living in Europe and in the Middle East. Different houses, language, food, clothes, habits, religion. See, Europe is a small continent where we have a lot of diversity between all the countries but in the end we are still very European and by that I mean similar in certain ways. We have a common history that binds a lot of nations together. But then as soon as you change continents you see what the world has to offer. You find entirely different cultures altogether.

You can't always get what you want

While I was trying to sleep last night I couldn't stop thinking about a song that most of you probably know. It's called "You Can't Always Get What You Want" by Rolling Stones. The lyrics always come to my mind when things don't go as planned and I keep wondering why, why, why, why on earth, whhhhhyyyyy???? One of my best friends always says the word she hates the most is WHY. I agree. Mostly because when it comes to important stuff the answer is so hard to find. I had a rough couple of days last week. Days when you just keep asking yourself the worst questions ever... Why doesn't it work between us? Why does it have to be so complicated? Why do I have to live here? Why don't I have a job already? Why didn't I study this or why did I do this like that? Like I said, why, why, why...

Trilogies, Series and since when is one book not enough

As I told you in my first post, I consider myself kind of a book worm. I love books and I think they are infinitely more interesting than movies (not to say they don't have their own flair). Basically because I think books have a way to get under your skin. When you read a book you are destined to spend more time with it than watching a movie for 2 hours and also you have this incredible liberty of constructing your own little world, characters, places etc. I've been a passionate reader since I was a little girl but I can't say that I have ever encountered such a phenomenon when it comes to trilogies and series of books. Now, I know that they have always existed but never in this kind of fashion in the mainstream. Come to think of it...

There is a first for everything

Well, I never thought this would happen. The blogging I mean. I've always been an old-fashioned type of girl when it comes to media - I always preferred newspapers as opposed to reading news on internet sites, books to e-books, journals to blogs but things have changed and so did I. So did we. And since I'm open to trying new things I thought I would give this a go and see where it takes me.
